African Hotels and Adventures bags Azanzi Beach Hotel management contract

African Hotels and Adventures (AHA), the tourism property management business of Tourvest’s Accommodation and Adventures (TAA) division has been awarded the full management contract for Azanzi Beach Hotel in Zanzibar, marking the first step in the company’s stated intention of growing its portfolio of properties beyond the Southern African region.

Azanzi Beach Hotel is an all-suite boutique, beachfront hotel on the north-eastern shoreline of Zanzibar and comprises eight standard suites, 12 luxury suites, nine villas and six deluxe villas.  Each suite is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, a mini-bar, mini-safe and an air conditioner while the deluxe villas also include a jacuzzi and an outside shower.

The hotel has conferencing facilities, a pool and pool bar, a dive centre and a deck that extends out onto Zanzibar‚s silk-like white beaches.  Activities on offer include snorkeling or diving excursions, a dhow trip around the island, a trip to the historic Stonetown, spice tours, spa treatments and angling.

Managing director Neil Bald said the property was a strategic fit with TAA‚s other business interests in East Africa:  TAA owns Vintage Africa, a ground handler, tour operator and travel agent to inbound East African travellers, and operates the Lemala Luxury Camps in Tanzania.

We will be able to add significant value to the hotel through our sophisticated booking systems and the large volumes of tourists we can source by virtue of our association with Tourvest‚s tour operator and travel agent businesses,‰ he said.

Azanzi, which also happens to be our first island property, is a valued addition to our growing portfolio of boutique hotels, lifestyle retreats and game lodges and will help the Tourvest group consolidate and grow its position in the East Africa region.
