Irene Country Lodge appoints new Spa Manager

African Pride Irene Country Lodge is pleased to announce the appointment of Carmenita Pedro as the new manager for its luxury five star Camdeboo Day Spa, seeking to lift the stature of one of Gauteng’s most intimate spas.

Carmenita has very set ideas on how to uplift the already spectacular service at Camdeboo to make it the most sought after spa destination in the province. She said while it was important to spend time on research and perfecting the business model, the success of a spa hinged a lot on the guest experience.

“I believe it is important to spend as much time walking the floor and staying in touch with both guests and staff as is possible,” says the young and energetic Carmenita. “High levels of service and attention to detail are vital in this industry to stay ahead of client expectations.”

Armed with her wide-ranging experience in running up-market luxury spas, Carmenita wants to invest in staff training to ensure the spa keeps abreast of trends in the industry. Her previous work experience has included executive management positions at Mount Grace Country House & Spa, Fancourt Spa and Ciska’s Beauty Clinic and Spa as well as lecturing at Langebaan Academy of Health and Beauty.

Carmenita also oversees the restaurant and juice bar housed at the spa which has launched a new menu described by Executive Chef Ryan Houston as ‘poetry on a plate’. With an emphasis on using fresh local ingredients, the menu has a good selection of healthy options which include wraps, salads and delicious smoothies, as well as wonderful treats such as “Oumas Old Fashioned” milk tart, chocolate mousse and goats cheese infused with truffle.

A lover of the outdoors, reading and dancing, Carmenita says a holistic lifestyle has always been close to her heart. She majored in somatology at Langebaan Academy of Health and Beauty and has also studied various massage techniques, Reiki, reflexology and aesthetic procedures. Carmenita has worked with most of the premium beauty and body brands in the industry. At the moment she is studying for a BCom Management through UNISA.

“At Camdeboo I want to ensure we offer our guests a sanctuary of luxury pampering and relaxation where we help them peel away the layers of stress,” said Carmenita.
