Officially introduced in September (2014), Air Mauritius Regional Manager, Southern Africa and Latin America, Carla da Silva ~ explains that the new stopover package has been designed with all the airline’s geographic regions in mind.

“Being a global carrier with an effective footprint in Australia, India, China, Malaysia, Europe, Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands; it is key for Air Mauritius to promote its beyond Mauritius destination strategy. This while enticing passengers to experience the warmth and hospitality of this oasis of peace and tranquillity, set in a turquoise sea. Of volcanic origin and sheltered by barriers of coral reefs forming natural, safe, crystal clear lagoons, Mauritius has long been a dream destination. The island has much to offer from its exceptional natural scenery, abundant and vibrant marine resources, varied sporting activities, retail therapy, and not to mention the rich culinary heritage of the Mascarene Islands, combined with the finesse of French cuisine.”

The Mauritius Stopover Plus Package:

There are approximately 16 hotels to choose from, ranging between three and five stars, and located on the west, east, north and south coasts. Urban hotels, located in the Capital City of Port Louis, have also been included to meet the needs of corporate travellers, wishing to make use of the Mauritius Stopover Plus package, and conduct business meetings, on route to London, Paris, Australia, Malaysia ~ and more.

There are three stopover packages to choose from on either a bed and breakfast or half-board basis; terms and conditions apply:

  • Stopover 1 ~ Air Mauritius pays one night; passenger pays one night
  • Stopover 2 ~ Air Mauritius pays one night; passenger pays two nights
  • Stopover 3 ~ Air Mauritius pays one night; passenger pays one night, and the third night is free of charge

“While the new stopover package is a tremendous value add to all our passengers, as well as a unique selling point for the airline ~ seamless connectivity is still available on certain routes. Consumers can thus choose not to make use of the offering, or enjoy as per one leg of their journey, only.”

Equally suited towards corporate travel and families looking to add further temperate days, excitement and perfect beach relaxation to their overall holiday itineraries; da Silva is quick to remind South African travellers that despite the inclusion of a Mauritius Stopover Plus package ~ Air Mauritius continues to remain highly competitive, in terms of its ticket pricing.

Concludes da Silva, “A family of four, can expect to save as much as R5,500, at the current rate of exchange. So why not book now and expand your holiday horizons to include quad biking, cycling, abseiling, snorkeling, scuba diving, archery and mountain climbing, to name but a few. With its balmy days and warm tropical nights, this paradise destination beckons visitors to its shores to experience its many well-kept secrets from sunrise, to long after sunset.”
