Avis, in partnership with Nedbank Capital, has announced its support for the Joburg Landfill Gas to Energy Project.
Through supporting this project, Avis will be able to offset its Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint for its 2014, 2015 and 2016 financial years.
The voluntary emission reductions have been sourced from the Joburg Landfill Gas to Energy Project and include Landfill Gas collection and electricity generation at the Johannesburg waste sites at Linbro Park, Marie Louise, Robinson Deep, Goudkoppies and Ennerdale municipal landfill sites.
Rainer Gottschick Avis Chief Executive, Southern Africa, says “Avis has continuously been environmentally conscious and we are pleased to be supporting the Joburg Landfill Gas to Energy project. We will continue our support for initiatives that will reduce our carbon footprint.”
