Avis Van Rental sponsors Old Mutual joBerg2c

The 2016 Old Mutual joBerg2c is renowned as one of the most grueling yet spectacular mountain bike events on the sports calendar, and Avis Van Rental, are once again the proud transport support partner for the sixth consecutive year.

The Old Mutual joBerg2c sees participants riding for 900km through South Africa’s four provinces, touring from the city to the sea starting on 22 April in Heidelberg and concluding nine days later on the 30th of April at the South coast of Scottburgh; all the while riders are treated to spectacular scenery with the landscape changing dramatically from Gauteng, into the Free State, through the Drakensberg and Natal Midlands.  The joBerg2c is indeed a race where the journey is more important than the destination.

As a transport support partner, Avis Van Rental will be providing participants and organisers with, trucks, bakkies, vans, a 14 seater bus and drivers to ensure that all involved in the race have a great and seamless experience. The vehicles will transport tents, mattresses, bags and other items to each of the nine race villages for the duration of the event.

The joBerg2c community-driven formula continues to be a success. The race uplifts the communities along the route by raising money for the local schools, churches and charities. Residents in the communities have the opportunity to support the race at road crossings, water points as well as in the local villages and get paid to do so.

This year, Avis Van Rental are sponsoring four teams; one male team, two mixed teams and one solo female team.

Leon Fourie, general manager of Avis Van Rental says, “We are honoured to be associated with the joBerg2c race once again this year, as we at Avis Van Rental firmly believe in community upliftment and making a difference.  We would like to wish all participants well on their nine-day quest and wish the organisers a successful and memorable race.”
