“Come dine with me!” – Knysna Restaurant Week

The beautiful town is just about midway through its very first Knysna Restaurant Week and, according to Knysna Tourism CEO Shaun van Eck it is proving to be a highly appetising initiative. “Knysna Restaurant Week officially started on 28 September and the proverbial kitchen closes on 12 October.”

“With 28 of our restaurants offering two course lunches at R70 and/or dinners at R120 for the duration of Knysna Restaurant Week, everyone is invited to sample our town’s unique gastronomic fare,” said van Eck. “The ‘Restaurant Week’ concept is very popular on an international scale and has been adapted to suit our local eateries by our Development Manager, Glendyrr Fick.”

“Taking place for the first time in 1992, New York Restaurant Week has become a biannual tradition embraced by New Yorkers and tourists alike,” said Fick. “The concept of inviting locals to experience the best of what their local restaurants have to offer has evolved into a major tourist attraction for cities across the globe, including Chicago, Brussels, Tokyo and even Cape Town.”

“Knysna Restaurant Week has been conceptualised to focus on promoting Knysna’s unique culinary offerings; from rustic comfort food to luxurious fine dining experiences, Knysna truly offers a variety of flavours to satisfy even the most discerning palate,” Fick explained.

“And of course our own initiative has the potential to evolve into a unique tourist attraction,” Fick continued. “Future Knysna Restaurant Weeks are sure to set the tummies rumbling of foodies across the country, and we are looking forward to welcoming them to our beautiful town and showing them our own a la carte menu of experiences to enjoy in between courses!”
