Durban KwaZulu-Natal Convention Bureau banks on Meetings Africa

Durban KwaZulu-Natal Convention Bureau will showcase the diverse business event experience that make up KwaZulu-Natal. The convention bureau and a range of partners have concluded over 45 lucrative bids with substantial economic benefits of more than R2.5 billion.

Last year saw KwaZulu-Natal submitting over 48 business event proposals and still await results. Additionally 14 significant events were secured in the same period. The convention bureau is hosting 11 major business events this year.

Details of the events secured by the Durban KwaZulu-Natal Convention Bureau in collaboration with key partners such as the Durban ICC and other major venues over the period of January 2015 to February 2019 are:

African Ports Evolution 2015. 3 – 5 August 2015 at the Durban International Convention Centre. Trade show of some 400 delegates.

Loeries Creative Week 2015 – 2017. August of these years. Some 4,000 – 6,000 delegates are expected to attend this event, which includes an awards function, exhibition and seminar. The main awards function will take place

Association of Southern African Travel Agents Conference 2015. Some 200 delegates attended this regional conference in May 2015 at the Southern Sun Elangeni and Maharani.

International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) World Assembly in 2019. This event will attract some 650 delegates. The CB has worked with the Durban University of Technology and OSIBA Management to bring this event to Durban. This event will take place at the Durban University of Technology.

African Timberland & Agriland Investment Conference. This event took place over the period of the 2 – 3 September and just before the International Forestry Congress. Some 300 international delegates attended this event. It took place at the Southern Sun Elangeni and Maharani.

EAPA-SA (Employee Assistance Professional Association of South Africa) Conference. Some 300 delegates will attend this conference at Coastlands Umhlanga over the period 8 – 11 September 2015.

World Hospital Congress 31 October to 4th November 2016. Some 1,200 delegates are expected to attend this congress, which will be hosted at the Durban ICC.

Global Forum for Innovation in Agriculture. Some 400 delegates attended this forum over the period of the 1 -2 December 2015.This event took place at the Albert Luthuli ICC Complex.

SAFHE/CEASA 2017. South Africa’s most important hospital and medical related equipment exhibition and trade show. This event will take place at the Durban ICC.

Enactus Ubuntu Fall 2015 Country Leadership Summit 17 – 20 October 2015. Enactus is an international community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world. Some 150 high-level delegates attended this important event.

International Society of Electrochemistry 2019 Congress. The Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE).is a significant congress of some 1,400 delegates and is hosted over a period of some 5 days.

6th International Conference on Community Psychology, 27-30 May 2016, Durban. 900 delegates. This event will take place at the Durban ICC.

Universal Access to Female Condoms Congress. This event took place at the Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel and Convention Centre, Durban, South Africa over the period of 01-03 December 2015.

World Congress of Psychosocial Rehabilitation. International conference for 2019 secured. Some 1000 delegates are expected to attend. Possibility of hosting the 2018 Global Congress as well. This event will attract some 1,500 delegates. Both events will take place at the Durban ICC.

2016 1st WCA Whale Conference and 2nd Whale Heritage Sites Summit. Some 200 international delegates are expected to attend this conference in October or November this year.

The 2018 International Symposium of Electronic Art. Some 400 international artists in this significant art form will descend on Durban and KwaZulu-Natal in 2018. 

“We spare no efforts when we are presented with an opportunity to make a bid presentation and clinching them does not only gives us great joy but immense pride in knowing that through our daily activities, we’re addressing the objectives of the Tourism Master Plan and the economic mandate embedded with driving tourism activities” said TKZN CEO Ndabo Khoza.

At Meetings Africa this year, the Durban KwaZulu-Natal Convention Bureau will pull together a substantial provincial exhibition stand for this trade show which will feature important KZN business event venues of such as those provided by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, Ushaka Marine World, Time Out Marketing, Misty Blue Group and the Chief Albert Luthuli Museum.

These product owners will be engaging in over 50 one-on-one appointments with key buyers. There will also be a post-tour of 10 international buyers to Durban, Midlands, Drakensberg, Battlefields, Ballito, Hluhluwe and St. Lucia from 25 to 28 February 2016.
