Michael Tatalias leaves SATSA

It is with regret that I have received the resignation of Mr. Michael Tatalias from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association ( SATSA).

Michael has been associated with SATSA for more than 16 years, and has served the Association with distinction in various capacities at Chapter and National level, and for the past seven years as CEO.

Over the time he has been with SATSA, Michael has put his huge talents at the service of our Association and our members. He has been a brilliant lobbyist for the tourism industry as a whole, and SATSA members in particular, and has worked hard to raise the profile of tourism both with the government at all levels and with the South African public.

Michael has decided to choose a completely new path in life, to prepare, he says, for the next twenty years of work. He has been accepted to study for a year at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, so he taking this up as a sabbatical. His wife Jan and son Brendan will be accompanying him to Canada – a great adventure!

Says Michael. “I am both nervous and excited, as well as a bit sad to be leaving SATSA, which has been a significant part of my life. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some incredible people, and I have had so much support. I would like to thank the staff, the Board and all our members. And I wish SATSA all the best in the years to come.”

We wish Michael every success in his future endeavours, and trust that he and his family will enjoy their new adventure together.

Francois Neethling,
SATSA President.
