Singita appoints new management team
Singita Game Reserves has made four pivotal managerial appointments at Singita Sabi Sand in South Africa and Singita Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania. Among these are three newly created portfolios set to further elevate the exclusive safari experience, which is custom-designed to provide rare, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that are presented with warm hospitality by the passionate team.
Jason Trollip (38), previously General Manager at Singita Sabi Sand, has been appointed Tourism Executive at Singita Grumeti Reserves – a new position that will see him co-ordinate and oversee the hospitality offering for its various lodges and camps: flagship Singita Sasakwa Lodge, Singita Faru Faru Lodge, Singita Sabora Tented Camp and Singita Explore Mobile Camp, as well as Singita Serengeti House, which is scheduled to open in June 2012.
Working closely with the individual Lodge Managers, Trollip, who has already made a remarkable contribution to Singita, will play a key role in ensuring that Singita Grumeti Reserves continues to deliver on the service standards that distinguish the celebrated Singita brand. He first joined in 2003 as General Manager at Singita Kruger National Park, after which he was promoted to General Manager at Singita Sabi Sand in 2009. With over a decade of experience managing luxury game lodges and a background as trained Field Guide, he is uniquely qualified to lead the team in Tanzania into the future.
His wife, 28-year old Loraine Trollip will take up the position of Operations Manager for the Singita Grumeti Reserves Mobile Camps division, which includes recently launched Singita Explore, as well as two new camps that are currently being conceptualized. Formerly Head Chef at Boulders Lodge in the Sabi Sand, where she headed up a superb gourmet experience, she will now be working in close consultation with the Head Chef of Singita Grumeti Reserves.
Before joining as Sous Chef at Singita Ebony Lodge in 2008, her impressive career included stints at celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s Maze Restaurant in London, as well as the Michelin-starred Gordon Ramsay Maze in Prague (Czech Republic). Her unique fusion of global and African culinary influences, together with an in-depth insight into the unique requirements of discerning guests, will no doubt elevate this Serengeti safari to new heights.
Stepping into Jason Trollip’s shoes, Graham Kennedy (41) has been appointed to the position of General Manager at Singita Sabi Sand. His immense experience within the hospitality industry was largely gained within the game lodge industry.
Kennedy has been the General Manager at fellow Relais & Châteaux property, Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat in the Cederberg, since 2009. Prior to that he was the Regional Operations Director (Botswana & Namibia) for &Beyond for 12 years, after he not only trained as a Field Guide, but also completed a degree in law (BA LLB). With this wide spectrum of lodge management, business and operational experience, his skill and acumen is set to further enhance the lodge experience in the Sabi Sand.
Graham’s wife Ronel Kennedy (39) takes up the newly created position of People Development Manager at Sabi Sand. Her duties include managing from a strategic level, the Human Resources and Community Development portfolios.
In her previous position at Bushmans Kloof where she worked alongside Graham as the Assistant GM, she also focused on managing the Bushmans Kloof community and conservation programmes. A qualified pharmacist, her experience includes working as Regional Human Resources Manager at &Beyond, where she was instrumental in rolling out the company’s community health programme, a position which, no doubt, will enable her to make a valuable contribution to both the staff and community projects at Singita.
