Singita founder bags PURE Awards accolade

The CEO and founder of Singita – which owns and operates 12 luxury properties across the African continent – was internationally recognised as one of the most influential people in the travel industry. Luke Bailes was awarded ‘Most Influential Pureist in Experiential Travel’ at the inaugural PURE Awards 2013 awards ceremony, held in Morocco recently. Bailes is the first to be acknowledged for his dedication to environmentally conscious hospitality, sustainable conservation and the empowerment of local communities.

Commenting on this award, Bailes said, “We have one over-arching mission – to protect land for future generations, and it is an honour to be recognised by fellow environmentalists who respect, support and share our vision.”

The PURE awards recognise only the best of the best in the high-end experiential travel industry and the “Most Influential” award is reserved for companies and individuals who are truly transforming travel.

The independent judging panel was made up of inspiring and influential visionaries in experiential travel.

Colin Bell, entrepreneur, environmental activist and judge on the panel says, “Bailes is streets ahead anyone else in his field. He gets my vote for doing so much over such a long period of time.”
