South African Travel and Tourism Summit debuts with ‘The Value of the Traveller’ theme

The South African Travel and Tourism Summit (The Summit) will take place at the Maslow Hotel, Sandton on 14 & 15 October 2013. The Summit is an initiative of the Tourism Business Council and all its affiliate associations and Gauteng Tourism. South African Tourism is the Platinum sponsor of this inaugural Summit.

Under the theme of ‘The Value of the Traveller’ the Summit is a national platform for top level dialogue, decision-making and action planning across the total value chain of the tourism economy. The Summit will provide you with the benefit of insights and experiences from global and national thought leaders and you will have the opportunity to have your voice heard and influence the outcomes and action plans for our industry.

Key Note Addresses include Deputy Minister of Tourism, Thokozile Xasa on the ‘Value of the Traveller’; and Dion Chang on ‘key worldwide trends impacting upon touris’, followed by a high level panel exploring ‘What these trends mean for South Africa and Gauteng specifically?’ Chris Buckingham former CEO of Destination Melbourne will explore ‘Melbourne model as a potential blueprint for the marketing and management of City Regions as tourism economies and destination’. Thulani Nzima, CEO South African Tourism and Jan Hutton, Chief Marketing Officer, SA Tourism will present the new and exciting plans for Reinventing Indaba.
