Taj Cape Town hosts ‘The Gallery’ themed fine dining
Luxury five-star hotel Taj Cape Town recently launched ‘The Gallery’, a new fine dining concept celebrating the synergy of three chosen art forms – the art of winemaking, culinary art and fine art. Each month ‘The Gallery’ showcases works produced by different local artists. These works are uniquely matched with one of South Africa’s finest wine farms and paired with a bespoke menu, curated by one of the talented Taj Cape Town chefs.
“The Gallery invites guests on a sensory journey through the Arts. The story is told both visually and through taste and offers guests a unique and exclusive dining experience”, says Kaya Onaran, Taj Cape Town Director of Food and Beverage.
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, ‘The Gallery’ event on Thursday 1 September includes Cape Town Fine Artist, Daniela Puccini whose work was exhibited at the Turbine Art Fair last month.
The exclusive Chef’s Table menu for September features amongst others dishes like the slow roasted Karoo lamb shoulder with mustard and thyme glaze, baby turnips, beets and onion purée. This 6-course menu is prepared by Taj Cape Town’s Chef Wynand van Rensburg and is paired with Avondale . Winemaker Corné Marais, with his unique, elegant wines full of character and luminescence, has meticulously chosen the best of his range to complement the menu.
The Gallery can accommodate between 6 to 10 guests and the monthly menu, paired with or without wines is available for private lunches and dinner – from R795 per person with wine pairing, or R595 without wine pairing.
All the featured artworks are for sale and all wines are available for purchase at cellar door prices.
