Teresa de la Porte is my first candidate and works for Three Rivers Lodge & Villa as their front desk officer, let’s find out more about what makes her tick…
The business of hotels revolves around meeting guests daily and ensuring that they have a happy experience with your property for repeat business to be a reality. The first point of contact guests have with hotels is the front office personnel with are always wearing smiles even under pressure or when dealing with fussy guests.
What is your name and which hotel do you work for?
My name Teresa de la Porte, I work for Three Rivers Lodge & Villa.
How did you get into your current position?
Started as a receptionist with the company, showed them who I am and mostly what I can do. Worked very hard and got promoted to Front Office Manager.
What were you doing before your current position?
I was working as an Admin Controller for Gold Reef City Casino.
What do you like about your job?
Interacting with guests and the satisfaction I can give to the guests on a very high standard.
What challenges are part of your job?
Making sure every guest has an awesome experience when checking in at Three Rivers Lodge and that we can meet every guest expectation. @thetravelpr
What is your long term goal with your career?
I would like to climb the ranks and hopefully one day become the General Manager of Three Rivers Lodge and Villa.
What milestones have you achieved since being part of the hotel front office team?
When I started in front office there were no procedures in place, getting all off that sorted and employing the correct staff for the front office.
How do you handle rude guests?
Handling rude guests is always difficult, by staying calm and friendly helps a lot, make sure that you listen and sort out the problem.
