Twitter reaction on Gautrain chewing gum saga…
Gautrain security has been in the spotlight this week for being too heavy handed…detaining two sisters for over two hours for chewing gum on the train. This has caused an uproar on social media…in particular twitter where the public has voiced their disapproval on the incident.
Below are some of the comments:
700 rand fine for chewing gum on the gautrain? once you’ve seen trains in europe & the usa, you’ll think this is a great idea. i support.

Abuse of power comes so naturally Gautrain bosses don’t grasp the scale of the outrage of illegally detaining 2 passengers for 4 hours

Suggested ad for Gautrain platforms: “Stimorol. Stays With You When the Gautrain Leaves You Behind. Now Only R700 a Chew.” — Gus Silber (@gussilber) July 17, 2012
Save ur bubblegum for taxis, buses and Metrorail not Guatrain. Gautrain frowns upon uncivilised behaviour.
